Lots of success in packaging competitions
MM Packaging is proud to have received awards at four prestigious competitions and two nominations for a state prize: The company recently earned international awards at the European Carton Excellence Award, the Deutscher Verpackungspreis (German Packaging Award) and the Marken-Magnet (Brand Magnet) competition. With the recently received Carton Austria Award and two nominations for the Austrian Smart Packaging Award, MMP also shines at the national level.
German Packaging Award 2022 for research into sustainable tear-off tapes
Today, tear-off tapes, for example for envelopes or in e-commerce, are mostly made of plastic film and are not biodegradable. In close partnership with TANN Germany, MM Neupack (an MM Group company) recently started research and laboratory tests on paper-based tear-off tapes. For their initial findings, the two plants were awarded the German Packaging Prize in the category of sustainability at FachPack in Nuremberg, one of the largest trade fairs for the packaging industry in Europe, on September 29, 2022.
Marken Magnet for “Twister” system in Reber Advent Calendar
In addition, the processing division of MM also convinced the jury at FachPack with an environmentally optimized Advent calendar for Confiserie Reber: “It was the first time we had seen such an ingenious Advent calendar,” was the unanimous verdict of the jurors. To keep the sweet delicacies in position behind the little doors, its recesses are in fact backed with spirally cut cardboard instead of Styrofoam. This improves the recyclability of the calendar and earned the “Twister” system the bronze “Marken-Magnet” award from the German trade journal “Lebensmittel Praxis” in the sustainability category.
Carton Austria Award 2022 for cake packaging
Shortly afterwards, MMP impressed the national audience with a particularly charming packaging solution at the PROPAK Austria Pro Carton Marketing Event: on October 4, 2022, the Carton Austria Award was presented there for the fifth time, honoring the best Austrian folding cartons – including the creative packaging idea for the Schloss Fuschl Cake. The traditional confection from the Salzkammergut region sits enthroned in a beautifully shaped box, which was modeled on the castle tower and finished to great effect.
Cling Film wins Gold at ECEA Awards
MMP’s winning streak began in mid-September at the European Carton Excellence Award in Poland. The organizers were particularly impressed by the innovative design of the new packaging for Elembal cling film: it integrates a wave-shaped tear-off saw, which enables smooth and perfectly usable film sections and thus produces less waste due to faulty cuts. The innovative solution received the Gold Award.
