“Excellent performance!” – Our well-established GC2 quality, Kromopak™, was successfully enhanced in the course of the rebuilt of the Slovenian mill Kolicevo at the end of 2011. The basis weight could be reduced while maintaining the same stiffness. Initially, the industry was cautious toward this development. Keith Clulow, Managing Director of Wilkins Packaging, sums it all up: “Why change something that is already so good?” However, his doubt quickly turned to enthusiasm. “In close cooperation with MMK, we carried out print, die cutting and gluing tests, all of which were excellent, exceeding all expectations. My customers, high-end retailers from U.K., were very impressed by both the excellent runnability as well as the bright appearance on the shelf.”
Thanks to these improvements, Kromopak™ holds a leading position in the virgin fibre cartonboard market in terms of product characteristics and sustainability: Kromopak™ stands out due to higher stiffness while maintaining its excellent properties – highest gloss in the GC2 market, extremely high smoothness <1 pps, a high degree of brightness with 87% Elrepho and a very attractive white reverse side.
