Installation of a solar power plant at MM Kolicevo

MM Kolicevo is further increasing its share of CO2 neutral electricity: Photovoltaics panels in total capacity of 1.2 MWp were installed in December 2023. With this solar power plant, MM Kolicevo stands alongside the largest solar power plants in Slovenia.

Optimal production of electricity on 8.000 square metres

The system consists of around 1,900 solar modules covering the roof of the finishing department and finished goods warehouse on 8.000 square metres. The photovoltaic system is expected to produce around 1,177,000 kilowatt hours of electricity per year, equivalent of the average consumption of approximately 220 households, and equivalent to a saving of approximately 450 tons of CO2 emissions based on the current electricity mix.

The special feature of this solar power plant is that it has the orientation of the solar cells in the east-west direction, which enables optimal production of electricity during the year.

Co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the Cohesion Fund

The investment is financed following a call for tenders for the co-financing of operations for the construction of new small-scale electricity generation plants using solar energy (JR SE RES 2021) for a total amount of EUR 206,778. The objective of the call for tenders is to produce electricity using solar energy to increase self sufficiency in pursuit of the objectives of the transition to a low-carbon and climate-neutral economy. The company will have a positive impact on the environment by reducing greenhouse gas emissions. The project aims to set up a solar power plant on the roofs of the company’s production premises. The operation is implemented under the Operational Programme for the Implementation of the European Cohesion Policy 2014-2020, priority axis “Sustainable use and production of energy and smart grids”, priority investment “Promoting the production and distribution of energy from renewable sources”. The investment is co-financed by the Republic of Slovenia and the European Union from the Cohesion Fund. (www.eu-skladi.si)
