MM at Interpack 2014 Exchanging Views with the Packaging World
As the global hub of the packaging industry and one of the most important platforms for trends, innovation and information, Interpack represented the highlight of the exhibition year for us.
Interpack
May 8 to 14, 2014, Düsseldorf
MM‘s stand was certainly one of the most attractive as the entire design was devoted to our core activity: cartonboard packaging as far as the eye could see. Our highly original FOODBOARDTM showcase deliberately focused on the subject of food safety – using mineral oil migration as its cue. Many people have long been demanding a solution to this challenge. MM Karton has found it in its FOODBOARDTM innovation. Our stand acted as a port of call for many interested parties and as a meeting point for old and new business contacts.
With regard to food safety, MMK has its finger on the pulse as “Save Food“ remains the number one subject of the fair, and constituted Interpack‘s focal point as it had in 2011. This put the spotlight on optimised packaging and smarter process technologies which can help to contain the global problem of food spoilage.
Taking place before the start of the fair, the “Save Food“ conference – a collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organisation FAO and the Düsseldorf Exhibition Centre – was a two-day meeting of experts on the global loss and wastage of food; the conference offered impressive insights into how this problem can be combatted along the entire value added chain.
Interpack, the leading fair for all sectors of the packaging and related process industries, completely filled the Düsseldorf exhibition site. Around 2,700 exhibitors from approx. 60 countries in 19 halls showed a wealth of innovative products and processes as well as providing important information on the industry and the environment. Interpack this year once again gave an outstanding demonstration, therefore, of its worldwide leading role as an important impetus for the sector, and MM Karton was able to show how well-conceived solutions can make an important contribution towards the challenges currently facing society.
European Food Safety Summit
April 8, 2014, Paris
All aspects of food safety were also the focus of the European Food Safety Summit which took place in Paris at the beginning of April. MMK supplied information to the approx. 40 representatives of international companies and European organisations on our FOODBOARDTM solution which provides the ultimate level of product safety for food packaging, and discussed the subjects of traceability, quality and transparency. There was consensus with regard to legislation in particular. In spite of the declared objective of the European Union to establish common European legislation on the subject of food safety, so far every country is pursuing its own approach. Unified legislation is essential and must be rigorously implemented and enforced.
MDD EXPO 2014 –
Private Label Exhibition
April 8 to 9, 2014, Paris
Private labels are making inroads around the world – their growth and their share of total sales in the big chains are impressive. And yet the own brand sector is a unique sector; it has its own requirements and objectives. With almost 650 exhibitors and approx. 7,000 visitors, MMD Expo in the Paris Exhibition Centre offered MMK an outstanding chance to talk to manufacturers and retailers about the latest trends, identify current opportunities and explore solutions together.
FEFCO Summit
June 4 to 6, 2014, London
The annual conference of FEFCO, the European Corrugated Packaging Association, was held in June 2014 under the banner, “Re-igniting the flame“. MM Karton was represented with its outstanding range of liner products, and attracted much attention in particular due to its new development, MM X-Liner aqua-fitTM, which impressed everyone with its excellent moisture protection. Digital printing represents a clear trend in the corrugated industry. The series of presentations entitled “High Volume Digital Printing“ underlined this development and revealed new development trends.
