Board & Paper

Success at packaging awards

MM Board & Paper has been honoured with five prizes at renowned international competitions: The European Carton Excellence Award was the first, followed by the Green Packaging Star Award and two awards at the Marken-Magnet at this year’s Fachpack in Nuremberg. Crowning finale to a successful year: two awards at the German Design Award.

Green Packaging Star Award for dmBio tea packed in FOODBOARD™
Fachpack is one of the largest trade fairs for the packaging industry in Europe. The “Green Packaging Star Award” was presented there for the 14th time on September 29, 2022. With this award, the industry recognizes green packaging solutions and improvements in internal production processes for the benefit of the environment.
MM Board & Paper impressed the jury in the “Save Food” category with the innovative cartonboard FOODBOARD™, which is used as packaging material for organic tea from the drugstore chain dm. With its functional barrier, FOODBOARD™ protects tea from external environmental influences and preserves its natural aroma. This makes an additional protective film made of cellophane superfluous, the packaging is therefore completely recyclable.Marken-Magnet and German Design Award for Hofer fruit basket and Kellogg’s Coco Pops, packed in recycled cartonboard from MM
The Green Packaging Star Award was not the only award that MM Board & Paper received for its sustainable cartonboard solutions at Fachpack:
The practical and at the same time fully recyclable stone fruit basket from the Austrian retailer Hofer took the golden “Marken Magnet” awarded by the German trade journal Lebensmittel-Praxis in the category “Sustainability” as well as a “Special Mention” in the category “Excellent Communication Design – Packaging“ at the German Design Award. After the European Carton Excellence Award in the previous year, this is another great recognition for the innovative fruit basket, made from Browncolor, our recycled cartonboard with a consistently natural brown kraft top and reverse side.

The innovative packaging solution for Kellogg’s Coco Pops also received wide recognition: it is the first food packaging ever to use the new NaviLens system, which provides blind and visually impaired people with information about the product via colourful QR-like codes on the packaging. The reward: silver at the “Marken Magnet” in the category “Impulse at the POS” as well as a “Special Mention” at the German Design Award for this packaging solution, which is made from recycled cartonboard by MM Board & Paper.

Double success in Poland: „Erdäpfelkiste“ wins ECEA award, gift packaging wins Art-of-Packaging award
The shower of awards for MM Board & Paper started in mid-September at the European Carton Excellence Award in Poland: the organizers were impressed with the unusual potato packaging for the food retailer Hofer, which can also be used as a storage box. The “Erdäpfelkiste” received the award in the category Food & Drink Packaging – Recycled Fibre.

In Poland, MM Kwidzyn recently also caused a sensation with an unusual packaging: A gift box filled with exquisite teas, given out as a giveaway to customers, won the nationwide Art of Packaging Award in the category “Taste”. The subtle design of the box, made from high-quality ALASKA® WHITE virgin fibre cartonboard, effectively reflects the MM brand. Particularly striking is its openwork lid, which has been realized with IPACK™ ESSENTIAL kraft paper, thus resembling a stained glass window.
