Bendtsen roughness
Bendtsen roughness indicates the surface smoothness of coated cartonboard.

General information
Especially for rougher surfaces, the Bendtsen measuring method is more suitable than the PPS measuring method. For determining the Bendtsen roughness, air is pressed within a certain time under defined conditions through a gap between the cartonboard and a metal ring, which is pressed onto the cartonboard. The result shows the air volume per minute (ml/min) which has leaked out. A lower value represents a smoother surface.
Additional details – practical relevance
The roughness is an important parameter for the cartonboard because it has a significant influence on the printing reproduction.
