MM Karton at the Most Important Packaging Trade Fairs

ECMA – 18th to 20th September 2013, Dubrovnik
The annual ECMA congress (European Carton Makers Association) took place this year in Dubrovnik under the slogan ‘The Search for Growth’. As in every year, the Pro Carton Awards were given as part of the event: for the second time, the carton quality Venoplex™ from MM Karton received an award in the category ‘Carton of the Year’. The Pro Carton jubilee was also a reason to celebrate. For 25 years, Pro Carton has not only passionately represented the interests of the cartonboard and folding carton industries, it has also set a valuable stimulus in current discussions. The commitment of MMK Board Member Franz Rappold was particularly honoured here as he has energetically supported the success of the organisation from the very beginning.

Plastics trade fair – 16th to 23th October 2013, Düsseldorf
Over 3,000 exhibitors promoted their products and services relating to plastics across 17 halls in Düsseldorf. It was particularly important for MM Karton to find out about the developments and latest achievements in the areas of barrier materials and coating solutions. Solutions for the latest challenges, such as preventing the migration of unintended substances from newspaper and packaging print colours into packaged foodstuffs, were requested by many parties. Surprisingly, this topic was practically ignored at the plastics trade fair and no packaging solutions for the protection of foodstuffs were presented. MM Karton has already found the answer in the FOODBOARD™ innovation.

LabelExpo – 24th to 27th September 2013, Brussels>
MM Karton was as well represented at the LabelExpo in Brussels, the largest trade fair for the labelling and packaging printing branch in the world. Participants could see the outstanding characteristics of MMK qualities Silvawhite™ and MM Digicarton™ live: Xeikon and HP Indigo, the two leading digital printer manufacturers, demonstrated digital printing at the highest level at the fair. Both producers homologated these and further MMK cartonboard qualities as the first for use in digital printing. In connection with this, a new collaboration between MM Karton and Xeikon was also announced: MM Karton will join the Xeikon Aura Partner Network. This places MM Karton as a strong partner in this growing market.

FEFCO – 22nd to 24th October 2013, Copenhagen
MM Karton was represented at the annual FEFCO (European Federation of Corrugated Board Manufacturers) conference as one of few liner producers. The conference is considered the most important event in its field. The MMK exhibition stand established itself as the contact point for many interested parties and the meeting point for existing and new business contacts. In addition to the presentation of informative liner brochures as well as the new liner sample box, it was the live presentation on Göpfert‘s laminating machine in particular which received lots of attention from around 800 participants – 180 gsm MM X-Liner™ on an EB flute.

During the subsequent presentation, MMK was able to demonstrate its aspiring position in the field of high quality flexo print: MM X-Liner™ and MM X-Liner aqua-fit™ received a lot of interest from the expert audience. Digital print in the corrugated industry was an unmistakeable trend at this conference and made new developments conceivable: MM Karton is ready!
