Successful re-start of BM5 in MM Neuss

MM Neuss, Germany, has successfully restarted its BM5 machine after a major rebuild to convert it from a board machine to a linerboard machine.

The rebuild included several upgrades to improve product quality, enhance appearance, reduce specific energy consumption, and offer a wider range with lower grammages.

Kurt Wasinger, Managing Director MM Neuss: “The main objective of our investment was the modernization of the BM5, and we already see that the new technology will enable us to achieve our ambitious quality targets. Customers will appreciate higher strength properties and outstanding runnability on printers.”
Vincent Lambert, Vice President Sales Liner, adds: “Now, our Liner particularly impresses even more with its superior visual appearance: High opacity and gloss in combination with exceptional smoothness. Its consistent quality is achieved through advanced production methods and strict online control, ensuring outstanding convertibility and perfect laminating performance. This is how Liner from MM Board & Paper gives packaged or displayed products an outstanding brand appearance at the point of sale.”

MM Neuss will continue to be a part of the MM multi-mill concept, offering various WLC qualities in the future.

Since MM Board & Paper focuses on cartonboard and paper products, ensuring a responsible circular economy is a key element of our business. Our products are primarily made from renewable resources and are characterised by their high recyclability.

Our goal is to keep the impact of our production on the environment as low as possible. Therefore, we have taken several other measures to improve energy efficiency and sustainability of the mill site. These include a rebuild of the machine drying section with a new steam and condensate system, new power-saving drives, new energy efficient machine pulpers and a modern quality control system to reduce energy consumption and improve board quality.

Our investment in sustainability and improving our production processes shows our commitment to the environment and to our customers. We are convinced that with our high-quality and environmentally friendly packaging solutions, we can contribute to creating a more sustainable future.

The rebuild in our Neuss mill has transformed the current Board Machine into a state-of-the-art Linerboard Machine.
