MM Group Named Top Performer in PwC Austria’s 2025 ESG Report

In PwC Austria’s newly released ESG Performance Ranking 2025, MM Group was identified as the leading company in the Paper & Packaging sector.

The independent study evaluated the 160 largest Austrian companies (across 11 industries) using 22 ESG performance indicators aligned with the EU’s European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS). The analysis was based entirely on publicly available disclosures for fiscal year 2024 (through July 2025), simulating an external investor’s perspective.

Within this context, MM’s results stood out sharply. The average Paper & Packaging score was just 30%, whereas MM achieved an 82.5% ESG performance score. This high score places MM firmly in PwC’s “Leader” category (the 76–100% range), underscoring the strength of its ESG strategy and its position as the sector’s top performer. In PwC’s own words, MM’s performance is “among leaders in the industry”.

Data-Driven ESG Strategy and Continuous Improvement

MM Group’s exceptional ranking reflects the breadth and quality of its ESG disclosures across environmental, social and governance criteria. PwC’s methodology explicitly rewards transparent, quantitative reporting, and MM achieved strong results in several areas where measurable data and clearly defined targets are required. Full points were awarded for the company’s complete measurement of Scope 1, 2 and 3 emissions, its ESRS-aligned materiality analysis, detailed EU Taxonomy disclosures and its due-diligence approach in the supply chain.

MM’s performance further demonstrates strengths in social and governance indicators, including defined workforce-related targets, above-industry training hours, ESG-linked management remuneration and the presence of a dedicated sustainability committee at supervisory board level. These elements show that MM has established robust structures and reporting processes that meet the expectations of modern ESG frameworks. At the same time, the PwC analysis highlights selected areas, such as renewable energy share, emissions reduction trends and resource-efficiency indicators, where additional progress can further enhance future performance.

Strengthening MM Group’s ESG Performance: EcoVadis Gold Medal Achievement

MM Group’s ESG leadership is not limited to the PwC ranking. In 2025 the company further advanced its sustainability credentials by earning the EcoVadis Gold Medal for Sustainability Excellence. This upgrade from a Silver rating in 2024 places MM in the top 5% of companies worldwide assessed by EcoVadis. The Gold Medal recognises a “robust sustainability management system” and marks MM as a sustainability leader. Together with the PwC ranking, the EcoVadis award demonstrates that MM’s commitment to ESG is comprehensive and forward-looking.

By publishing these results, MM Group continues its practice of transparency and accountability in ESG reporting. The company remains dedicated to continuous improvement across all ESG performance indicators, integrating the latest regulatory frameworks (such as the ESRS) into its strategy.
