(B)CTMP

Our Norwegian mechanical pulp mill MM FollaCell produces chemi-thermomechanical pulp from logs and wood chips, both in the unbleached variant (CTMP – chemi-thermomechanical pulp) and bleached variant (BCTMP – bleached chemi-thermomechanical pulp). This special process results in particularly high-quality mechanical pulp, which also has some of the beneficial properties of chemical pulp – such as the tear strength of the products made from it. The wood chips are first chemically pre-treated and then heated with hot steam before they are refined. Through double screening, MM FollaCell can offer one of the cleanest (B)CTMP. Depending on the type, pure softwood or a mixture of softwood and hardwood is used – all from sustainable forestry.

The pulp is used in the MM Board & Paper mills and also sold on the international market.
