Chocolate gets a window – MMP Austria focuses on Premium Packaging
Mayr-Melnhof Packaging Austria is significantly investing in its facilities in Vienna and is setting up as a modern high-performance location for the premium market. A unique window patching machine is one of its latest innovations.
Creating a window that goes over the edges with just one step
The MMP Austria plant in Vienna specialises in the production of folding boxes with the highest degree of finishing. The current investment programme with a focus on the premium packaging market now plans to further strengthen the company’s competitive position. In this segment in particular, customers place the highest demands on the shape and appearance of packaging in order to unmistakably position products and brands. Therefore, MMPA recently invested in an innovative and unique window patching machine with a specially integrated punch and crease element. With this single production step alone, it’s now possible to produce exactly the desired shape of the product viewing window in different film thicknesses – even over the corners and edges of packaging. In this way, capacities can be increased and film can be reduced at the same time. The new window patching machine is currently being used by well-known customers from the confectionery sector, whose packaging solutions require first-class design services and at the same time should provide a view of the contents of the packaging.
“As a specialised supplier of cardboard packaging in the premium segment of Confectionary and Beauty & Personal Care, our focus is on consistently providing high quality and sustainability. Because more than ever, sustainability aspects, especially in the area of consumer goods, are a significant factor in the purchasing decision of customers. In order to meet our competence and performance requirements within the European folding box industry, we continuously invest in innovative technologies and increasing production capacities. Creative packaging ideas also require excellent and precise implementation!”, explains Hannes Schleich, Managing Director of Mayr-Melnhof Packaging Austria.
