Straight into the basket! – MMP France packs tomatoes sustainably and plastic-free

The French cooperative Kultive uses tomato packaging from MMP France and is reducing more than 50 tonnes of plastic per year by switching to a cartonboard solution.

Quality, responsibility and respect for the environment
This is Kultive’s motto. Reason enough to choose MMP France as an environmentally conscious, regional company with a wide range of innovative and ecological packaging as the perfect partner for developing the packaging solution. This vegetable packaging, especially for cherry tomatoes, replaced a thermoformed plastic (PET) tray with sustainable cartonboard packaging made from a carton by MM Board & Paper . It is available in two sizes for 250 g and 350 to 500 g of cherry tomatoes. In this specific case, 100% less plastic per packaging means more than 50 tonnes (!) less plastic per year. The entire design is impressive as it is so easy to handle. It can be set up and filled in just a few simple steps, making it highly efficient on the customer’s packaging line. It also does not need any glue to be formed. The packaging was also optimised in terms of size and weight, so that the trays are supplied flat and formed on the production site for an optimisation of transport. Moreover, the compact cartonboard with its minimal thickness makes it possible to gain space in storage but also facilitates a greater capacity of up to 1,000 cuts in the loading machines. That means responsibility for the environment along the entire supply chain.

Visible, safe and stable: packaging that appeals
The new packaging solution from MMP France ensures a perfect brand presence, excellent product protection and is a real eye-catcher in any fruit and vegetable department. The clever, yet simply designed solution conveys the freshness and character of cherry tomatoes in a perfect way, offering a new experience for consumers, as it is very stable and can be easily opened. In addition, it guarantees the visibility of the product at the POS due to its cut-out areas, while keeping the product fresh. The combination of modern design, practicality and the highest degree of innovation make this packaging by MMP France stand out while contributing to the success of the customer.

Successful plastic substitution – tomato packaging from MMP France stands for sustainability in its purest form.
